Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT, as it is more often known, is an amazing treatment that was created by Gary Craig in 1995.
Background
In 1979 Roger Callahan, who originally studied with the psychiatrist John Diamond, the first person to integrate kinesiology and psychotherapy, was treating a severe water phobic patient called Mary. He found that tapping under her eye whilst getting her to say a positive affirmation brought about an instant remission in her condition.
Gary Craig, who studied with Callahan took this one step further when he realised that, and I quote, "The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system." What this means is this: If you are upset about something, your body holds on to it in a negative way and then often goes on to create emotional disturbances or pain, or both.
Gary Craig realised that these emotions could be released by getting the patient to say the correct phase to release the problem, while at the same time either he, or the patient, tapped on the 14 major meridian points.
It is a totally non-invasive and is also a fantastic treatment for people who feel 'stuck' in their lives. It very often allows them to move on to what is, for them, the 'next step'.
