What is Meditation
The word meditation, is derived from two Latin words : meditari(to think, to dwell upon, to exercise the mind) and mederi (to heal). Its Sanskrit derivation 'medha' means wisdom.
Meditation can mean different things to different people. For many, meditation is a religious or spiritual activity.
However, meditation is no longer a practice with just a religious context.
An increasing number of people are realising the benefits that regular meditation practice can bring. By relaxing the body and calming the mind, practitioners have discovered the physical, mental and emotional benefits meditation can have.
Meditation can be used to:
Relax and relieve tension and stress
Increase cognitive function and creativity
Develop self awareness and promote personal growth
