Lomi Lomi is the traditional healing massage of Hawaii & is one of the most powerful forms of massage, recapturing the forgotten wisdom of the ancient people of Hawaii. In ancient times Kahuna Priests performed this transformational massage as a sacred temple healing ritual. The ancient philosophy of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage is love, life & well being harnessing the natural life force energy, communicating directly with the inner most intelligence and power of body, mind & spirit for profound healing.

This dynamic, fluid, rhythmic body massage provides a unique experience using long flowing strokes working the top & the underneath of the body simultaneously, using varying speed, depth & pressure to emulate the flow of the ocean. Some say it is “like waves rolling over the body” relaxing the muscles, calming the mind & nurturing the soul, restoring balance & harmony to body, mind & spirit.

Presence, awareness, intuition, intension & breath form an integral aspect of this traditional Hawaiian massage. This dynamic bodywork is also know as Loving Hands massage as it comes directly from the heart & generates pure, unconditional loving energy, which can result in profound healing.

It is a unique, flowing vibrant massage using dynamic dance work, hula movements, breath work & rhythmic strokes over the whole body. Using the hands as well as the forearms, working underneath & on top of the body simultaneously to emulate the ebb and flow of the ocean. This unique treatment uses natural life force energy to restore free flowing energy & clear energetic blockages to harmonise body, mind & spirit.

The Lomi Lomi practitioner works intuitively with the client, in this respect there is no set format or sequence for the massage and therefore no two massages will ever be identical. As “Huna” focuses on the unique needs of the individual the practitioner connects on a deeper level enabling them to intuitively work on these needs to bring about a greater level of healing, when needed the practitioner will incorporate the use of hot stones, crystals, sounds & colour to further enhance the healing.

What does Huna mean?

Huna in Hawaiian means ‘Secret’. Huna in it's purest form is ancient knowledge passed down from wise women & men of the Pacific Islands. They were known as ‘Kupua’, similar to the word ‘Shaman’ & refers to a specialised healer who works with the forces of nature & powers of the mind to heal. They looked at the world & observed the patterns of nature, the behaviour of human beings, animals & plants. The knowledge gained about life, what life is all about & how life works was called Huna, Ka Huna the ‘secret’, the ‘hidden knowledge’. To live by this philosophy enables a person to connect to his or her highest wisdom within, creating states of inner peace, balance & wholeness enabling them to transcend the stresses & strains of life.
