Massage Training is the most difficult of therapies to regulate. There are many different training courses available, a reflection of the many different types of massage available. At ACT Ltd, standards have been set stringently but fairly, in line with other therapy regulations and expected levels of training. Many of the recently developed associations and training schools were not around years ago, so the regulation takes 3 forms:
1) Recently qualified therapists must be either:
IFPA (International Federation of Professional Aromatherapy - www./ifparoma.org) trained for Aromatherapy and Aromatherapy Massage.
MTI (Massage Training Institute - www.massagetraining.co.uk ) for Body Massage
SMA (Sports Massage Association www.sportsmassageassociation.org ) Level 4 for Sports Massage.
2) Or they must have:
15 years experience in Massage along with a Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology, First Aid, and if they are not an associate member where continued professional development (CPD) is required, they must complete 10 hours of CPD per year to develop their skills, keep updated and work from the ACT clinic.
3) Or they must have:
Minimum of 100 training hours and completed a minimum set of a minimum of 40 supervised case studies, an Anatomy and Physiology Diploma, First Aid, and continue their professional development with 10 hours CPD per year.
