Rolfing is a method of hands-on tissue manipulation and movement education. It releases stress patterns in the body and aims to balance the whole person so that they can deal more efficiently with life in gravity.
Re-aligning the body through deep manual intervention of the soft elastic tissue (connective tissues, tendons, ligaments) to encourage the release of stress patterns, training patterns and physical patterns frees you. Muscles are lengthened, space is restored. When the body is aligned in the gravitational field not only are physical symptoms relieved, but normal function is improved. Vastly. To rolf an entire body back to being gravitationally integrated takes ten sessions with 3 - 4 weeks gaps in between each session.
People who have been Rolfed feel a greater sense of wholeness and wellbeing, move with more freedom and vitality and often discover a new-found ability to live their lives with more expression and joy.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM BEING ROLFED?
Everyone!* People come to Rolfing for a wide variety of reasons. Many of the most common complaints such as back pain, repetitive strain injury, lack of mobility, headaches and general lack of energy are often the result of poor structural organisation and respond very well to Rolfing. Whilst some people come to Rolfing just because they “don’t feel right”
People receiving help with mental well being: Those who are in the process of resolving past trauma or are working to improve emotional or self-esteem issues have found Rolfing an effective way to provide support and meaning for their process.
Fit People: More and more sports people and athletes are using Rolfing to compliment and enhance their training regime and to speed recovery from injury or prevent injury happening in the first place.
