Thai Massage is an ancient healing art that is given on a mat with the receiver comfortably dressed in flexible clothing. Starting from the feet &progressing to the head, the body is massaged & stretched. In the West, Thai Massage is also referred to as Thai Yoga massage. Thai massage combines elements of Yoga, Shiatsu & Reflexology. Its whole body approach corrects postural alignment, energizes the body & mind, & feels amazing!
The basis of Thai massage lies in the theory of energy lines running through the body. Working on these energy lines helps to remove blockages & allows the free flow of energy through the body to balance the body's energy system.
There are many benefits to be gained from a Thai massage.
Practitioners are mainly concerned with balancing the energy systems of the body and therefore Thai Massage can have profound effects on the receiver.
After receiving a massage, it usually takes four or five days for this energy re-balancing to be complete. This means that people continue to experience the beneficial effects for some time after the massage, and not just during the treatment.
There are several reactions that you can expect after receiving a massage. The two most common initial feelings are extreme tiredness, which is a sign that old and negative energy is leaving the body, and a feeling of having lots of energy, which indicates that new energy is flowing into the body.
Whatever your reaction, you can expect that you energy will be balanced after a few days. This means that even if you feel very tired immediately afterwards, once this feeling passes you will usually be conscious of having much more energy. Other benefits include greater flexibility in the joints, enhanced blood circulation, better alignment of the body, improved posture and additional stimulation of the internal organs which helps them to function optimally. Thai Massage also gives the receiver a feeling of relaxation and tranquillity that is invaluable for today’s stressful lifestyle.
Please arrive for your massage dressed in comfortable clothing. The client remains fully clothed throughout but make sure your outfit allows for lots of movement!
