I began my life being introduced to complementary and alternative therapies and the healing arts, (thanks mum http://www.lyndafield.com ). I started the journey of becoming a therapist at 21 years old by doing short courses in hypnotherapy, aromatherapy, reflexology, Swedish massage and sports massage and then embarked on a Degree in Complementary Therapies at 25, where I retrained in the body work therapies to a much higher level.
Having experienced many different teachers and courses I was fully able to appreciate the high levels of training that were being offered in the therapy areas of the degree, realising that with poor levels of training I had received previously, I had been blissfully unaware of what I didn’t know. Mainly safety issues. I very quickly realised that if I hadn’t known what good training was, how were clients supposed to know? And so this clinic was born in concept.
I have had a therapy room in my house and worked from there with my private clients four years. The clinic opened in November, 2008. I love reflexology and particularly enjoy using it as a tool for emotional balance. I love to do reiki, I find it extremely powerful and enjoy combining it with my treatments. I specialise in massage and have had lots of additional training, including body rocking for emotional and physical release, structural massage, taught by an osteopath enabling me to assess alignment throughout the body, with a special interest in the spine. Many massage therapists use their bodies incorrectly and end up damaging their arms and wrists, I have been trained by a hands free specialist to use my body with care, whilst still being able to apply deep pressure, I was then invited to be on the cover and throughout his book as an example of excellent body use. (Darien your teaching has been amazing, thank you, http://www.dynamicmassage.co.uk )
I use aromatherapy with all my treatments and combine my different skills to suit the individual needs of the client. A treatment can take any form, lasting an hour, an example may be as follows: If you came to me with stress and headaches and a poor posture, I could use oils for headaches, straighten out the shoulders, spine and neck alignment and reduce tension through massage I could then spend some time on the spine, neck and head reflexes of the feet for further balance.
I thoroughly believe that every individual should have a treatment of some kind each month as a ‘taking care of yourself’ measure, keeping energy flowing, and physical and emotional stress levels monitored. I follow this advice switching between massage, reflexology, reiki and osteopathy when it suits me.
